Mission Community

Dear readers,

Do you remember my last post "The Vision"? I was praying that God will help me and lead people with similar vision to come and work together with. That opportunity knocks on my door :)

We had Teachers and Staff Chapel around Sept 2015 and invited a SPECIAL priest. He is a specialized in mission and exploring rural area, just call him Mr K. Surprisingly, his preach just right into my current condition. I want to do something with my (limited) ability but don't know where to begin or do it with. After the sermon, I met him (it's something I NEVER do in my life) and ask for his good words according to my condition. He told me to hold back and staying in this Foundation to support my plan. Since, I couldn't do my plan alone, without money support (read : my salary) from the Foundation.

I cancelled my resignation then. Hahahaha.

Moreover, several of my friends were interested to have further discussion with Priest K. He managed to gather us and asked what was / is our dream? Notice this past tense : was. Sometimes, some of us buried our dream when we feel couldn't do it at all. By time passed by, slowly we could forget our dream. Priest K asked us to dig into our dream once again, shared that dream together, so we could help each other to make that dream happen.

Voila, here we are now : The Mission Community :)

Even though each of us has different dream, but I feel I found an oasis where I can take a break from unimportant-political-hypocrite-working stuff. I'm delighted to know that we gather together not only to fulfilled our dreams but also to do something good for people. I believe it's God's will to let us gather in this community and I never know what is God plans next?

Is this community could stay together for long?
Is this community have pure-heart member? or just other hypocrites?
Could we trust each other in this Mission Community?
Could we really do something, step forward to each our dream?

Or is this just another way God's provide to teach me how to build a community and to make "The Vision" fulfilled?

Tomorrow is mystery.

I pray that God will lead my way, help me to have best decision throughout problems I'm faced, and do action according to God's will. Thy will be done :)

The Vision

What had happened in your time traveling on the road? Had it changed your life, point of view you seeing the world? Somehow for me, I got enlightment!

My first enlightment was in Dieng, 2011, where I am addicted to no fixed plan traveling, did hitchhiking, and be flexible on the road. The second one, 2013, was in my 55 days traveling in China. I learned how people can spread kindness sincerely and how I can ever beat it? I was ashamed in my way of life so that I make promise with myself to help people who need help. Especially when I am capable to help them. Moreover, I fallen in love with rural area and how community live in the village. How people could live in serene, humble, kind, and helping each other. The third enlightment, 2015, was little bit different. I went to China with one of the purpose was looking for my vision in life.

I found the answer when I was on the train in China; the vision seems to be : I have to work in rural area. What kind of working, where should I work, what should I do to reach the vision? Those are other questions I have to look for the answer. After coming home from the journey, I spent time thinking about what should I do or where should I begin it especially in Timika. 

I met many people and discuss it with several people in these 6 months. Some of the notable people are :

1. My friend's mother, Mamanya Ibu Sapta. She told me I should work in group and can't depend on myself only. I need people to talk and share with this vision.
2. My CS friends, Reza Pahlevi, who build social community action in Medan. He shared his experience to build a social community action and it still survived after 5 years running
3. Satu Cahaya Langit, who reminded me to contact Buku untuk Papua. But at this moment Buku untuk Papua in Timika are hibernating.
4. Joined with 1000 Guru Papua where I met many young people who care for education in Papua, Timika and to begin the vision.
5. Bataknese lady, who is a church activist. My conversation with her remind me to make decision about place where I should begin this vision. And an affirmation from her that is normal to think and working independently without church denominations, etc.
6. Yunia, or Yunex one of my students. I went to her family church and found that they have limited resources in the church and the sunday school. Such an inspiration :)
7. Arnold, one of my students. I accompanied him to the church yesterday and surprised to watch a performance which reminded me about how happy I used to in my sunday school. 
8. Kak Ester, who introduce me with Dapur Kasih-GBI Rock Timika Program. I am blessed to get involved in the program since I am not their church member

There were so many coincidences and events that leads me to today's decision : it's time for me to begin it! Tomorrow would be the day! Hopefully God will help me and lead people with similar vision to come and work together with us.

A librarian who teach

 A librarian who teach, that's me.

When I was in primary school, I hated my homeroom teacher and that makes me hate teacher as a profession. When somebody's asking what is your goal in the future? Be a teacher is never be an option for me or pops out in my mind. Fate or lets say by Jesus' will I become a teacher somehow at this moment.  My school curricula is terrific. We have competent teachers for every subject even for a library session. The principle asked me to teach in the library session from grade 1 - 6. I was surprised and at the beginning little bit felt overwhelmed. Since I had to work in the library and taught student in the classroom.

By the time, I enjoyed it! Never expect it but yes, I truly enjoy it! 

The curricula for library session is arranged by me and approved by the principle. The classroom activity is not only reading books but also filled with other literary acitivities. What I mean with other literary activities, such as : storytelling, knowing book author, book title, profession in publishing (author/editor/translator/illustrator), how to publish a book, book appreciation, watch based on book-movie, knowing information resources (library, book, magazine, newspaper, maps, internet). All these activities are my favorite, and I am really enjoy to share this knowledge to the students.

So lets say right now, I love what I do! Thank you Lord Jesus for this rare, fascinating, amazing grace You sent me to Timika. I am really grateful :')
